Thrive Apprentice 4.0 has just been released! Check out this blog post to see what changes will be applied once you update.

Unsure about what the Decoupled Drip feature for Thrive Apprentice is? Learn all about it here.

Thrive Apprentice allows you to drip feed content to your students over a period of time, giving them the possibility to advance together, as a group. They can have the same deadlines for turning in assignments, taking tests, and overall, going at the same pace over the course material.

Furthermore, by supporting cohort based classes, you can promote a sense of community amongst your users, and increase student retention.

In this article I'm gonna show you one example that you might find useful if you are planning to go for the same approach.

First Group of Students

You might have, for example, a course for which you open two enrollment sessions. One in March, and one in June.

The group of students that have enrolled in March will start the course on a specific date and time set by you. For that, you can use the "Scheduled repeating" drip template:

As this is currently set up, the first content will be unlocked on March the 1st, and then the course will be drip fed systematically, lesson by lesson, on a weekly basis.

At the end of the course, you can send out a "Survey" type of quiz, from Thrive Quiz Builder, to get some feedback from your students.

You can ask their opinion about how was the course paced, if they enjoyed receiving new content on the currently set days, or if they would've rather gotten it on a different day of the week.

Based on this feedback, you can make changes to your schedule and try a different approach with the following group. And you can make all this without bringing any change to the course itself, or to the first schedule that you created.

Second Group of Students

So, for the second group, the one that would start in June, you can configure a new drip template:

You can drip feed content at a different pace, or on different days, depending on how was the feedback given by the first group of students that took the same course.

You can use the "Drip on specific dates" campaign, that gives you the freedom to unlock content at custom intervals. You can choose the exact unlock dates for each piece of content in your course.

The first content can be unlocked on the 1st of June, and then the next one two days later, and the next one later on, let's say five days after the start of the course:

You can use this type of approach for lessons that are longer and take more time to go through. And you can do this as many times as you want, for as many groups of students as you need.

Hopefully this quick tutorial about how to use the drip schedules to support different cohort learning was useful to you.
