If you are wondering how to run a Thrive Ultimatum campaign that would only be available for the new users of your website that have registered after a certain date, then keep on reading this article.
With Thrive Automator you can create complex automations that will only target certain categories of users. You can do that in several easy steps, with the help of the triggers and actions available for this plugin.
The purpose of this article is to show you how to display a Thrive Ultimatum campaign only to the new users of your website, that sign up to your website after a certain date. You can, for example, trigger an evergreen lockdown campaign that will only be available for those users that signed up after the date set by you, and that will run for 7 days straight.
Let's find out how to achieve this!
1. Set up Your Promotion & Registration Pages
First, create a new WordPress page, that will be your promotion page:
Customize it as you best see fit using the options available in the editor:
This page will be the one to which the new users who sign up will be redirected after signing up on your website. Furthermore, any visit to this page will trigger the evergreen lockdown campaign.
Secondly, you need to make sure that you have a registration page, where the visitors can register on your website.
I will be using a "Login & Registration Form" element, for which I will be linking this "how-to" tutorial here.
Simply create a new WordPress page, and add a "Login & Registration" element to it:
Use the left sidebar list of options to make the necessary configurations, as described in the above-linked article.
Also, an important step here is setting up a redirect page, to which the users will be redirected after the submission of the form.
To do that, open the drop-down under the "Submission action(s)" section:
Then click on the first field:
And here, make sure you select the "Redirect to Custom URL" option and then click on "Apply":
Lastly, in the next field that becomes available, type in the name of your promotion page:
This way you are making sure that all new site visitors that are signing up through this form, will be redirected to the promotion page set up in your Thrive Ultimatum. Any visit to the promotion page will trigger the campaign.
2. Create an Evergreen Lockdown Campaign
Next, you need to make sure that you have created your Thrive Ultimatum evergreen lockdown campaign:
For this example I am using a campaign that will show up on my promotion page and will run for 7 days after it was triggered:
Besides the settings you configure here, you will also have to activate and set up the lockdown campaign pre-access, expired, and promotion pages from here:
If you don't know how an evergreen lockdown campaign works, then make sure to check out these articles before, as they go into more detail about how to get your campaign up and running:
In the currently explained use case scenario, the Thrive Ultimatum trigger that sets off the campaign is a visit to the promotion page.
Another way to trigger a Thrive Ultimatum evergreen lockdown campaign is through the submission of a lead generation form. So, instead of using a "Login & Registration Form" element for new users' registration, you can use a "Lead Generation" element, for which you set up a WordPress account connection.
Here's an article that might be useful to you if you plan on doing that:
Regardless of which way you choose, the end result is the same - both elements allow new visitors to register to your website, while also triggering the Thrive Ultimatum campaign.
Lastly, don't forget to set your campaign status to "Running":
3. Set up Your Automation
Next, head over to Thrive Automator and create your automation. To do that, hover over Thrive Dashboard and select Thrive Automator from the list that opens:
Next, click on the "+Add New" button in order to start setting up your automation:
You'll next have to configure your trigger, which will set off the entire automation. Open the drop-down list and select "User creates new account":
Now you can proceed to the next step:
You will have to add a filter that will segment and identify the users that will sign up to your website after a certain date:
To do that, we will use the "Registration date" filter:
In the next drop-down list that shows up select "after":
Use the calendar to set the date:
And once everything is configured, click on "Done":
Now proceed to the next step: here is where the Thrive Ultimatum campaign comes into action. Simply add a new action to your workflow, and select "Start an Ultimatum Campaign":
Open the drop-down list and select your Thrive Ultimatum evergreen lockdown campaign:
The campaign you set up in Thrive Ultimatum has to be an evergreen lockdown campaign, which is triggered by the users' actions, not by dates. Any other campaign (such as a fixed date or recurring campaign, ) will not work in Thrive Automator and the automation will not successfully be executed.
Click once more on "Done" and your automation should be complete:
This is how the workflow would look like in the end:
Now, the only thing left to do is to save the campaign, and then hit "Publish" when you are ready to run it:
And that's about it! This automation will be triggered only by those new users that register to your website after a certain date. They will see the promotion page and the campaign run by you for a limited amount of time, just as you configured it in Thrive Ultimatum:
