If you're building your website using Thrive Suite, there might be situations in which you are not sure when you should be editing the page/post from Thrive Architect, or when you should modify the theme templates.
This article is meant to clarify what items can be modified from each editor.
When you preview or access your website, if you're logged in to an admin account, you will see this top panel, from where you will have access to both editors:
The basic idea of the two editors is this one:
if you want to edit the content of posts/pages, add more information, add or remove elements and so on, you will have to access the Thrive Architect editor (<Edit with Thrive Architect>);
if you want to edit the design of the templates applied to your pages/post, you will have to access the Thrive Theme Builder editor (<Edit Theme Template "example">) ;
Please make sure you also check out these articles, for a better understanding of the two editors:
Here are some examples of items that you might want to modify on your site and where they can be edited from:
I want to edit parts of my "Header"/"Footer" sections
If you want to edit "Button" elements that might be included in the header or footer of your website, the background color of these sections, and modify other elements or options for them, you will have to do so in the Thrive Theme Builder editor:
Then, once you enter the editor, you can edit the "Header" or "Footer" section, by clicking on the section, which will give you two options:
You can either click on "Edit", which will let you globally modify the section (all over the website), or click on "Unlink", to only modify the "Header" section of the current template.
Check out these resources for more information about these sections:
I want to edit parts of my "Top"/"Bottom" sections
Just like in the case of the "Header" or "Footer" sections, if you want to edit or modify anything from the "Top" or "Bottom" sections of your site, you will have to access the Thrive Theme Builder editor and proceed just like in the case of the above-mentioned sections.
I want to edit the Sidebar
The sidebar of your site is also a section that can be globally or locally modified from within the Thrive Theme Builder editor:
From there on, you can select the "Sidebar" section (either directly from the editor, or from the left sidebar):
I want to add/remove/edit elements from the entire template
If you want to add/remove elements from the element list, and to do so on a template level (so that the elements will be added/removed/modified on all the pages/post on which that template has been applied), then you can do that from the Thrive Theme Builder editor.
Most of the elements found in the Thrive Theme Builder editor are the same ones as the ones from the Thrive Architect one.
I want to add/remove/edit elements from just one page or post
If you want to edit elements that should only affect a singular page or post, you will have to access the Thrive Architect editor and launch it on the respective page or post:
I want to edit the aspect of my "Content" section
Editing the design of the section that incorporates the content of your site can be done by modifying the "Content" section in Thrive Theme Builder:
I want to change the aspect of a singular post/page
If, let's say, you want to change the design (background color, etc.) of a singular page or post, you will have to open the page/post in the Thrive Architect editor and do the necessary settings from there.
I want to change my logo
The logo can be globally modified from the Thrive Theme Builder dashboard. If you want to add/remove or change your logo, you will have to first access the dashboard:
From here on, you have two options: the first one is to change the logo from the "Site Branding" section of the Site Wizard:
Learn more about how to do that from here.
The second option is to access the "Branding" section of the dashboard, and change the logo from there:
I want to change the title of my content
The title of a post/page can be edited from either the WordPress editor or the Thrive Architect one. You can check out this article for more information about which options can be found in these two editors:
I want to edit the template, but only for one post/page
If you are looking for a way to edit the Thrive Theme Builder template, but only for a singular page/post, what you will have to do is create a new template (or duplicate an existing one), edit it as you wish, and then apply that template to the page/post you want.
Here are some resources to help you with that:
