You can check out this article about the "Business Social Links" element, which allows you to add various social links to the page.

With Thrive Themes you can easily add social media follow buttons to your page using the "Thrive Follow Me Widget". This comes in handy for the users who want to keep in touch via social media as the click of a button will quickly direct them to the social media platform they want to follow.

This article will guide you and help you understand how to properly configure and use the widget.

Select and Add the Widget

In your WordPress Dashboard, go to the left sidebar and hover over “Appearance”. Click on the “Widgets” option:

This is where you can choose what widgets you want to use on your website and where they should be placed. It should look similar to this:

Configure the Widget

If you take a look at the available widgets and scroll through them, you should find the “Thrive Follow Me Widget” under the “Available Widgets” section, on the left side:

Now, there are two ways to ​add the widget.

The first one is to click on "Thrive Follow Me Widget" and select where you want to place the widget. In this example, it will be placed in the Main Sidebar:

Then click on the blue “Add widget” button:

The widget will be placed on the right side, under the Main Sidebar section:

As mentioned before, there are two ways to add a new widget.

The second one is to simply drag and drop the “Thrive Follow Me Widget” to the right side under the sidebar or menu where you want the widget to be.

Once you do that and choose the placement of the widget, you will be able to see a list of the social media platforms that you can use, for example:

What you have to do now is to get the custom URL links or usernames for each social media platform and paste them in the dedicated fields.

Here is a guide on how to fill in the fields:

Note: When configuring your social media platforms, here is what you have to keep in mind:

  • ​The Facebook platform​ only works for pages of a company/business and it will not work for a personal profile

  • ​The LinkedIn​ platform only works for company/business pages. You will have to fill in the Company ID from the respective page. You can retrieve this if you are the administrator of the company's LinkedIn page and navigate to the admin section of your company page. You can find an example of a Company ID here.

Once the fields are filled in, make sure you select the "Active" option for each social media platform that you want to be displayed:

Note: ​If necessary you can edit the fields later on, in case you need to change the​ “Active/Inactive” status of one of the fields, or in case you want to change the information completed in the fields.

All you have to do is to open the configurations of the "Thrive Follow Me Widget" again and make the necessary adjustments.

Save and Preview

Save everything using the blue “Save” button:

You can now test and check if everything works. Go to a post or page (this depends on what widget area you have placed the widget in, and where that widget area is set to appear) and preview it to see how a visitor will see that page when browsing on your website.

Depending on what social media platforms you ​have set up (in this example I went ​with Instagram), it should look something like this:

Note: If you ever decide that you don’t need this widget anymore, you can always delete it. The “Delete” option can be found on the bottom left side of the widget:
