Google Analytics is one of the most popular analytics platforms. It offers detailed statistics about a website's traffic, as well as traffic sources and it measures conversions and sales.

Thrive Themes gives you the option of easily adding your Google Analytics tracking code, to the website that you have built with the Thrive products.

First, let's see how the tracking code can be obtained.

Get the Google Analytics tracking code

1. Sign-in into your Google Analytics account.

2. Go to the Admin section in the top menu bar and from the "Property" column select the property you’re working with. Click on "Tracking Info" and then, on "Tracking Code":

3. The next step is to copy the Google Analytics tracking code from the text area which appeared.

Set up Google Analytics in Thrive Themes

Go to your WordPress admin dashboard and then, click on the Thrive Dashboard. Look for the Thrive theme (the name of the theme you have chosen) and then, click on the green "Theme Options" button.

Now, from the "General Settings" section, you will have to select "Analytics / Scripts" and paste the code you have previously copied into the "Header Script" field:

theme_options_header_scripts

Why not in the "Body Script"?

If you put the code in the "Body Script", then, the code will run after the page is loaded, not before the page is loaded (as in the case of the "Header Script").

The code would run if you inserted it in the "Body Script" too, but some of the Google Analytics features would not work properly because of this, for example, the "Real-time reporting" feature. Also, Google recommends placing the code in the Header.

These steps of setting up the code in Thrive Themes are general ones. This means that you can use them to add any kind of scripts/code to your website if you are using a Thrive Theme.

For instance, you can add the Facebook Pixel code, in order to track your conversions and the effectiveness of the advertising on your website.
