Keep in mind that this article refers to the "Apprentice" theme feature. We do have a stand-alone plugin as well, called "Thrive Apprentice". This article explains how the plugin works, including a chapter about modules, chapters, and lessons, which might come in handy.

When you activate the Apprentice feature, two new content types become available to you: Lessons and Apprentice Pages.

The difference between the two is similar to the difference between WordPress posts and pages. Apprentice Lessons will be shown in the Apprentice Content Manager and you can organize them into a structured course.

Every lesson is part of the structure of the lesson and will also appear in the lessons' navigation widget.

Apprentice Pages are for pages meant for your members area, but that shouldn't be part of the lesson structure. Typical examples would be:

  • ‚ÄčA member homepage or welcome page.
  • A login page.
  • A page with a special offer, news item, or update for your members.

The easiest way to distinguish between the two is to ask the question: is this content one of several lessons in a course? If the answer is "no", then use an Apprentice Page.
