You just spent time customizing your Thrive Theme Builder theme and now you want to use it on another website? No problem! Here's how to export and import a Thrive Theme Builder theme.

Note:

  • Both websites need the Thrive Theme Builder theme installed in order for this to work.

  • Exporting a Thrive Theme Builder theme will also export the headers and footers of the theme, and importing the theme will also include them.

Export Your Thrive Theme Builder Theme

Access the Thrive Theme Builder dashboard:

Now go to the "Themes" section of the left sidebar:

Look for the theme that you are looking to export and hover over it. You will see the "Export" option:

When you click on the "Export" option, it will give you the option to give your zip file a name.

Clicking the "Export" button again will start the download of a zip file. This zip file is called [Archive Name] [current date] [current time] so in this case, we would get a zip file that's called Ommi-Theme-2020-28-03-17-40-15.zip.

Just leave this file as it is. DO NOT UNZIP IT!

This is the file that you will want to import on your other website.

Import Your Thrive Theme Builder Theme

Now that you exported your Thrive Theme Builder theme, you're ready to import it on a different website.

Remember, this website also needs to have the Thrive Theme Builder installed as the active theme.

Then go into the Thrive Theme Builder Dashboard

Again, access the "Themes" section of the dashboard:

From the top right corner of the page, click on “Add Theme”:

A pop-up window will open and you'll see the "Import From File" option.

The “Import Theme” pop-up with your Media Library will open. If you have previously uploaded the theme here, then simply select it from the Media Library.

If you have not uploaded the theme yet, click on the “Upload Files” tab:

Next, either drop the zip file you have previously exported directly on the page or use the “Select Files” button to select it from your computer.

Remember, do NOT UNZIP THE FILE.

You want to upload the zip file exactly the way you downloaded it.

Once you do that, the file with the theme will be uploaded and selected automatically (if, for some reason, it is not selected, you can click on it to select it):

Then, click on the “Import” button from the bottom right corner of the pop-up to add the theme:

After that, a notification will appear, letting you know that the theme has been added to the theme library of your dashboard and you can activate it, by clicking on the “Activate” button.

Now your newly imported theme is active on your website.
