When you are building a quiz with Thrive Quiz Builder, besides adding the standard “Text Questions”, you also have the possibility to add multimedia questions, such as “Video Questions” to your quiz.
This way, you can make your quiz even more interesting/interactive for your users, because they will see a video and not just read the question of the quiz.
Here are the steps you need to follow, in order to add “Video Questions” to your quiz:
Naturally, first, you will need to create a quiz (or edit an already existing one) in your Quiz Builder Dashboard. If you require detailed information on how to do that, please check out this article.
You can add questions to a quiz at the “Quiz Structure” section. The first part of setting up the "Quiz Structure" consists of defining the questions and answers for your quiz.
When you have reached this part, click on either the “Manage” button or on the indication that appeared above the "Questions" option:
The questions editor will open, where you can add the questions and answers to your quiz.
In order to add a question, click on the “Add Question” button from the upper-left corner of the questions editor:
This will open a pop-up window with the three available question types you can choose from:
Multiple Choice with Buttons
Multiple Choice with Images
Open Ended Questions
Choose whichever type you want from here. In our case, since we will add the question in the form of a video, the type you select here will refer to the way users can answer the “Video Question”.
So, for example, if you choose “Multiple Choice with Buttons”, users will be able to answer the “Video Question”, by clicking on one of the multiple possible answers you will provide them with.
Once you’ve selected the question type, click on the “Continue” button to go on:
Make the question a Video Question
The next step consists of actually adding the question. In the “Add Question” pop-up, you will see that by default the “Text Question” is selected. Click on the down arrow next to the “Text Question” option:
This will open a drop-down where you can change the type of the question. Click on the “Video Question” to select it:
The interface of the pop-up will change, allowing you to upload your “Video Question” using the options from its first section:
First and foremost, in order to upload the question in the form of a video, you will have to select the "Source" of the video. This will also determine the rest of the options that you will have for the uploaded video.
By default, YouTube will be selected as the source of the video. Click on the down arrow from the “Source” section:
This will open the drop-down with every available source option that you have for your video question. There are a few different platforms you can choose from here, or you can upload a video from your PC, using the “Custom” option:
To select one of the platforms or the “Custom” option, all you have to do is click on them. Depending on which “Source” option you have selected, you will have various options for inserting and customizing the “Video Question”, as follows:
If you have chosen YouTube as the “Source” of your “Video Question”, you will have to start by inserting the URL of the YouTube video in the “URL” field:
After you have inserted the URL, press “Enter”, or click anywhere outside the field and the video will be automatically added as the “Video Question”. You will see a preview of it appear in the right part of the pop-up.
Next, you can start customizing the video. By default, there is no style added to your video. If you want to add a style to it, click on the down arrow from the “Video Style” section:
This will open a drop-down with the styles that you can choose from:
Scroll down to see all of the available styles. If you have found the style that you would like to use, simply click on it and it will be applied to your video.
Whenever you want to change the style of the video, you can simply open the “Video Style” drop-down again and select the different styles that you want to use.
After you have added the video’s URL, the “Display Options” will become available. Click on the down arrow next to the “Display Options”, from the “Advanced” section to see them:

Disable playbar - if you choose this option, the playbar will not be visible on the video anymore

If you want to add a Wistia video as the “Video Question”, then select “Wistia” from the “Source” drop-down and then add the URL of the Wistia video in the “URL” field, below the “Source” section:
Once the URL is added either press “Enter”, or click outside the “URL” field and you will see that the video will be automatically inserted in the pop-up. A preview of it will also be displayed in the pop-up.
Just as in the case of Vimeo videos, you can also choose a player color for Wistia videos here. By default the player color is blue, as you can see in the “Player Color” section:
There are two ways in which you can change this color and replace it with another color.
Just as described above, you can either insert another color code, in the field from the “Player Color” section or click on the color box from the same section and use the color picker that opens to apply a new color for the player of your video.
Just as in the case of the other video sources, you can also apply different styles for your Wistia video here. Open the drop-down from the “Video Style” section and choose the style you want to apply to your video.
