There are three ways you can create an opt-in form with Thrive Leads: using "Lead Groups", "Thrive Shortcodes" or "ThriveBoxes".

These options can be found on the Thrive Leads Dashboard, by choosing Thrive Dashboard at the bottom of the left-side menu:

Then, click on the "Thrive Leads Dashboard" button in the Thrive Leads card:

Building a Form with Lead Groups

To add a new Lead Group, simply click on the "Add new" button in the "Lead Groups" section:

As you click on this button, a new window will pop up. Here you can give a name to your new Lead Group in the designated section. Once you have done that, click on the green "Add Lead Group" button:

Now the new Lead Group will be added to your Thrive Leads Dashboard.

As you can see, there are three icons on the right side of your Lead Group: a down arrow, a cogwheel, and a trash icon:

With the help of the arrow, you can expand or close the lead group to see its details, while the trash icon can be used if you want to delete a Lead Group.

With the help of the cogwheel, you can set the targeting options of your Lead Group. If you click on it, a pop-up window will open where you can set the "Display Settings" of your group:

After you have done that, you can click on the "Save & Close" button from the bottom right corner of the pop-up window and continue with setting up the Lead Group.

The next step is to create an opt-in form and add it to your group. In order to do that, click on the "Add New Type of Opt-In Form" button:

A new pop-up window will open where you will have to select the type of opt-in form you want to create. Just simply click on the type of opt-in you want and it will be created:

If you want to find out more about each of the opt-in form types, please follow this link.

After you have created the type of opt-in form, the next step is to add an actual form to it, by clicking on the "Add" option which can be found on the right of the form type you have just created:

This will lead you to a new page, where, if you haven't created any form yet, this is all you will see:

Click on the "Create Form" button, highlighted in the image above, to start creating your first form.

This will open a pop-up window where you can give a name to your new form and then, create it by clicking on the green "Create Form" button:

Note: You may want to try out multiple forms of the same type, so we recommend giving the form a specific name that will distinguish it from the other ones.

Edit the form

Now that you have created your first form it will be added and displayed in the form type of your Lead Group. You can see several options on its right-click on the "Edit Design" option (pencil icon) to start editing and customizing your form:

By clicking on the "Edit Design" option, the Thrive Architect visual editor will load and a pop-up will open, from where you will have to choose a template that you want to use for this form:

Simply select the template you like and click on the green "Choose Template" button to go on:

After you have chosen the template, you will be able to edit the form along with the Thrive Leads Element in order to make it fit your purposes.

Editing works exactly the same way as you edit the content on your page or post with Thrive Architect. If you need details on how to use specific elements and options in Thrive Architect, please check out our knowledge base here.

If you changed your mind and want to use another template, click on the "Change Template" option from the right sidebar:

This will open the same pop-up window that you have previously used to select the template. Thus, you can simply select another template from it and click on the "Choose Template" button again.

When you are done editing your form don't forget to click on the green "Save Work" button on the bottom left part of the editor:

Once you have finished editing/customizing your opt-in form and you saved it, go back to its page in the Thrive Leads dashboard.

Here you will find other settings that you can apply to your forms, such as its trigger, its display frequency, and animation:

Trigger

To set how you want the form to appear, i.e. what you would like to trigger its appearance, click on the text "Displays immediately on page load" from this option:

This will open up a pop-up window with the trigger settings. Click on the down arrow from the "Trigger" section to see every available setting:

In the drop-down that opened, you can select when should the form appear. Choose whichever trigger you prefer from the list:

Then, depending on which trigger you have chosen, there will be different settings you will have to complete. Once you have done that, click on the "Save" button from the pop-up window to apply the new trigger to your form.

Display Frequency

To set the display frequency, click on the "Every 7 days" linked text from under this option:

This will open up a pop-up window with the "Display Settings". Here you can set how much time you want it to take before the same visitor is shown the same form again. If this is set to zero, the form will turn up every time the visitor comes to your site:

You can change the number by using the slider or typing a number into the box. Click on "Save" when you are done.

Animation

The form will be added and you can choose an animation for it, by clicking on the current animation from this section:

This will open a pop-up window where you can choose the animation you want. First click on the down arrow to open the drop-down with the available animations:

Then, choose one of the animations:

When you are done, click on the "Save" button, to apply the animation on the form.

Building a Form with Lead Shortcodes

Another way of creating opt-in forms with Thrive Leads is with "Thrive Shortcodes". You can find this option in the Thrive Leads Dashboard, right under Thrive Leads Groups.

To start building a Lead Shortcode, click on "Add new" from the "Lead Shortcodes" section:

As you click on it, a pop-up window will open, where you can give a name to your new shortcode. When you have done that, click on the "Add Lead Shortcode" button:

Now the new form will be added to the "Lead Shortcodes" section in the Thrive Leads Dashboard.

On its right side, you can see the "Reset Stats", the "Edit" and the "Delete" options. To start building your form, click on the "Edit" option:

This will lead you to a new page where you will have this option:

Click on "Create Form" and you will be taken to a pop-up window, where you will have to name your new form. Once you have done that click on the "Create Form" button to create it:

Edit the form

Now the new form will be added to the list. The next step is to edit it using the "Edit Design" option (pencil icon) that can be found on the right side of the form:

Thrive Architect will open and you can edit the form just as you would edit any other form using Thrive Architect. After you have done editing this form, the steps are the same as were in the case of the forms for Lead Groups described above.

When you are done with editing the design of the form and all the other settings, go back to the "Lead Shortcode" section of the Thrive Leads dashboard and copy the shortcode of your form:

You can use this code, meaning you can paste it to your content (in Thrive Architect, the regular WordPress editor, or other editors of your choice), on the page where you want the form you have created to be displayed.

Building a Form with ThriveBoxes

This way of building an opt-in form is somewhat similar to building a Lead Shortcode. You can find this option in the Thrive Leads Dashboard.

Click on the "Add New" button, from the "ThriveBoxes" section to add your first ThriveBox:

Then give your new form a name and click on the green "Add ThriveBox" button. The new form will be added to the Thrive Leads Dashboard:

On the right, you will see the "Reset Stats", "Edit" and "Delete" options. Click on the "Edit" option to start building the form:

Then, on the page that opened, click on the "Create Form" option to go on:

Add a name for your form and then, click on the green "Create Form" button:

Edit the form

Next, click on the "Edit design" option, from the right side of the form:

This will open Thrive Architect, where you will first have to choose a template and then customize the form to your liking, just as described above, in the case of Lead Group forms.

When you are done with all the setting and design, and your form is ready, go back to your Thrive Leads dashboard and copy the shortcode of the form from the "ThriveBoxes" section:

Now you can add this shortcode to your content using Thrive Architect, or the editor of your choice.

You can get more information on how to create and use a ThriveBox, in this article.

After you have added your shortcodes to your content, you can preview the page(s) and test the shortcodes to see how the opt-in forms are displayed.

Note: Please keep in mind that testing your opt-in forms while you are still logged in on your website will not be accurate.

In order to properly test the forms that you create, you should use the Incognito Mode of your browser. This way the conversions/impressions will also be added to the Thrive Leads statistics.
