This article explains how to create a new landing page template and the steps to load an existing template.
Creating a New WordPress Page
First of all, you need to create a new page: Go to your WordPress Admin dashboard, then select Pages > Add New:
Give your new page a title, then, save the page as a draft or publish it.
Then, select the "Edit with Thrive Architect" button:
When you do this, a pop-up will open, asking you to choose whether you are looking to build a normal page or a Landing Page:
If you want to build a regular page that uses the theme template, without any elements on it, then you can select the "Normal Page" option here.
However, to create a Landing Page, choose the "Pre-built Landing Page" card:
Note: If you open an existing page in editing mode, go to the right sidebar and click on the “Change Template” option:
This will open the same pop-up that will ask you what page you want to create.
Choosing a Landing Page Template
When you click on the "Pre-built Landing Pages" option, a pop-up will open, with all of the available Landing Page templates:
Thus, in case you want to create a page using a template that already has elements on it that you can further customize, then you can choose from the various predefined Landing Page Template sets that can be found in the pop-up window.
Just scroll through the sets, choose the one that you see fit, and then, select a certain template from that set:
Once you have loaded the Landing Page Template, you can customize its elements to best fit your purposes. Personalize the texts, images, colors and rearrange or add new elements if needed.
Note: In case the Landing Page Library pop-up is not showing any templates, please use the "Refresh from cloud" option from the top right side of the pop-up:
After you are done with the customization, click on the “Save Work” button from the bottom left side of the editor:
Saving the Landing Page Template
In order to be able to use this customized version of the Landing Page again, you have to save it as a template.
First open the “Settings” menu from the right sidebar, by clicking on the gear icon:
Then, select the “Save Landing Page” option from the “Settings” menu:
A pop-up will open, where you can give a name to your template and you can also add some tags to it, to make it easier to find, if you will have many other saved templates as well:
After you are done, click on the “Save Template” button and your customized landing page will be saved and ready to be used on other pages as well.
Loading a Landing Page Template
Using previously created landing page templates is easy. Basically, you can load the saved template over the page you want to edit.
To load a landing page template, follow these steps:
- Go to your WordPress Admin dashboard and select the page that you want to customize from the “Pages” section. Then, click on the “Edit with Thrive Architect” button.
- After the Thrive editor opens, go to the right sidebar and click on the “Change Template” option, just as shown earlier in this article.
- In the Landing Page Library pop-up, go to the "Saved Landing Page" section:
The page you are editing will be overwritten by the saved and customized template that you have chosen.
