This feature allows you to give badges to your users when they reach certain commenting milestones. This can help you build a rewarding and engaging commenting system!
The feature is found inside the "Voting and Badges" option from the Thrive Comments dashboard:
By clicking on the toggle, the "Voting and Badges" feature will show up, being displayed as a new section on the dashboard.
The voting part of this section has already been covered in a tutorial, don't forget to check it out, here: How to Enable Comment Voting in Thrive Comments
First of all, you can turn the "Award Badges" feature ON / OFF:
If the feature is ON: The "Add New Badge" option will show up, allowing you to start customizing your badge:
By clicking on this option, a new window will pop up on your screen:
Basically, on this window, you can customize your badge. First of all, you can give it a name:
The badge name will be visible by the user, if he or she hovers over the icon, on the front-end. So, choose the badge name wisely:
Next: Choose when will the badge be awarded (e.g. Number of upvotes received reaches 10):
For the award event, you have a couple of options, if you click on the drop-down:
The number for the chosen event can also be changed - You can insert any positive number.
Below, you can choose an image for the badge. You will have a list of icons that you can choose from:
Or you can upload a custom badge from your own device:
This will open the WordPress Media Library, and you can choose any image you see fit. The recommended size for a custom badge is 24 x 24 pixels.
Now, the newly created badges will be shown like this:
If you want to add more badges, simply click on the "Add New Badge" button, and follow the same steps.
Also, you can choose if you want to award badges to the comment moderators, as well:
This means that the moderators will have the same privileges as the users - they can receive badges based on the milestones that you have set (e.g. 10 upvotes received).
These are the most important options of the "Badges" feature.
